Nicola obtained her undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University in Criminology and Psychology, her law degree from the University of British Columbia and was called to the bar of British Columbia in May of 2009. She joined the firm in 2006, became an associate in 2009 and a partner in 2017. Nicola has had a primary focus on family law since she began at the firm.
Nicola has represented her clients at the Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Appellate Court levels in British Columbia, has negotiated settlements for her clients, attended mediations and arbitrations with client and drafted marriage and separation agreements which address a variety of issues.
Nicola has been a contributor and presenter at various courses offered through the Continuing Legal Education Society (the “CLE”) and has assisted in editing two chapters of the Annotated Family Practice Manual and Family Law Annotated Agreements Manual through the CLE. She is also a contributing author for the Lexis Nexis Practical Guidance section concerning court conferences in British Columbia. She was a member of the Advisory Committee for the Child and Youth Legal Centre and is a volunteer with the Access Pro Bono Program providing legal services specific to the area of family law to lower-income parties. She is also a past member of the Executive and past chair of the Canadian Bar Association Family Subsection in Vancouver.
She remains a member in good standing of the Canadian Bar Association Family Law subsection.
